Black Women on Closing the Education Gap

In 2021 a larger percent of African American woman (33%) were enrolled in college than White men(25%) and women(31%), Hispanic men(19%) and women(24%), and Black men(23%).

Also, 28% of African American women ages 25 and older held a bachelor’s degree or higher in 2021. This is a 40% increase from 20% in 2010. Despite this gain Black woman still trail White men and women bachelor’s degree or higher (38% and 40% respectively.)

In 2021, 23% of African American men were enrolled in college which was unchanged from 2010. Also 22% of Black men had a bachelor’s degree or higher which was still a 48% increase from 2010 (16%)
