In 2021 Overwhelming Majority of Black Men and Women still had Black Spouses

According to the US Census Current Population Survey the percentage of Black men and Black woman who are married to Black spouses of the opposite sex both decreased since 2000. For Black men it decreased 7 percentage points from 92% in 2000 to 85% in 2021 (a rate of 7.6%). For Black woman it decreased 4 percentage points from 97% in 2000 to 93% in 2021 (a rate of 4.1%). However both have been pretty steady for the last five years.

It will be interesting to see how or if these percentages will change as more of Gen Z grow older and decide to tie the knot in these changing and more turbulent cultural, economic, and political times.
